We all went to the St. Patrick's Day Parade this past Saturday. I don't guess I had ever been to a St. Patty's Day parade before-it was cute. Jackson loved the Fire Truck (of course) and the horses. There was a horse pulling a carriage-the horse had a green sequined hat on-Jackson thought it was "so silly".
After the parade we ate lunch at "Grandma's Subs and Yogurt". It's right on Main Street so we sat by the front window and watched traffic. The sandwiches were awesome-probably one of the best subs that I have ever had. After lunch we had Jackson's fingerprints and a "mug shot" taken-he was amazingly good through the entire process. We sat and watched as a young lady and her mother wrestled with her two children. They ran around the building screaming and throwing a fit. I need moments like those to remind me that he isn't as hard to corral as he could be!
Sunday we somehow managed to get up and all get ready for church (on time)! That doesn't happen too often in this family so we were extremely excited that we made it! After church we went to eat at El Pueblito's. Their entrees are good but I really like their chips-they are so thin you can practically see through them.
After lunch Andy went to work and the kids and I went for a walk. We walked to the park (the one closest to our house-not our favorite, but it's still fun). It takes about 6 minutes to get their on foot. Jackson enjoyed climbing the big caterpillar and playing on the swings while Maclaren hung out in her stroller (of course). Jackson insisted that I play with him on the slide, so of course, I did. I followed him down a few times then as he ran around to climb back up I ran back up the slide. At that moment I was the ultimate of coolness because I climbed the slide "like Spiderman". Then, he found out he could do it too and, well, I wasn't so cool after all!
When Andy returned home from work, Jackson and I decided to mow the yard. Meanwhile Andy tried to manage with Maclaren, thankfully he finally got her to go to sleep. We worked in the yard until a little after 8pm and (I think) we got a lot accomplished. Then of course it rained Sunday night and most of Monday so I'm sure it will need it again soon!
Maclaren is getting so big. The outfit she wore to church was a 3-6 month and it seemed to fit okay, it wasn't too baggy like most of her 3-6 month clothes have been. She still loves to watch Jackson. She has also taken a liking to a certain black and white dog so Jackson may have to share his "best friend" before too long!
Jackson is still on the Spiderman kick. A few weeks ago he found the movie (which at the time Andy and I had still never watched all the way through) in our movie "trunk". He had to watch it. Well since that day I hear at least once an hour "Mom, I'm Spiderman, okay?" I respond with "Okay" and he chimes back with another "Okay?" It's like clockwork. I ordered him a couple of Spiderman shirts and have found this adorable "throwback Spiderman" shirt at Gap which I plan on getting for Easter so he can wear it to his Birthday party.
I can't believe he is almost 4 years old. I feel like I'm one hundred and five saying "it seems like only yesterday we brought him home". But it does. I can so vividly remember that first night in the hospital with him. Andy asleep on that little green couch, I walking around with Jackson in my arms. The early morning sun beaming through the metal blinds and the thought that "I made it through the first night" running through my head. Now, he's running through my house acting like he's a Mountain Lion and Jersey is his deer. I'd better go save her! More later!
